the long journey

shedding the layers
of frustrated nights off
my shoulders.
mourning the loss
of what used to be
of who I was.
I don’t want
to forget
I don’t want
to remember
tears of joy
and tears of sadness;
the drawn line
is unclear.
yearning for
a safety net
to carry me,
in case I fall.
realizing there
is no need
is part of
the long journey
