your innocence

nighttime had arrived,
we walked on the path
that lead us to the waterfall.
the only sound we heard
was the water rushing down,
hitting the sides of the cliffs
and into the treacherous waters.
how beautiful it looked as it curved
downward in unity and grace.
i saw your silhouette of a body,
standing, waiting, and i knew.
right then, on that humid night,
i never saw you more fragile.
your innocence flickered
like a light that mosquitoes
gravitated towards wanting
some direction towards sight.
